Legal Aid/Funding

Legal Aid

Legal Aid is available to clients who pass two tests.

  1. Is the allegation a sufficiently serious one? This might be in relation to your particular circumstances and not only the obvious seriousness of the charge which you face.
  2. Financial eligibility. We suggest that you discuss this with us but you can try using the eligibility calculator at If you are in receipt of Income Support, Income Based Allowance (ESA), Income Based Job Seekers Allowance or Pension Credit, you will automatically qualify for Legal Aid.

You may be required to provide documentary evidence of income and expenditure as well as your National Insurance Number to support an application for Legal Aid.

Private Fees

We will offer competitive rates for representation at Court. Wherever possible, we will fix a price that will cover the whole costs of the case so that you will know what your expenditure will be.

At the Police Station

If you are arrested, you normally have the right to free and independent legal advice from the Solicitor of your choice at the Police Station.
