Gil Shelley has lived and was educated locally at Bitterne Park School and Itchen College before starting a career in law at Bernard Chill & Axtell Solicitors in 1971 where he remained until 1999 when he joined Eric Robinson Solicitors, leaving in 2014.
Gil has worked in criminal defence for over 47 years in Southampton. He has covered a full range of serious crime including murder, rape, serious fraud, high-value drugs importation, national conspiracy to supply Class ‘A’ drugs, death by dangerous driving, historical and serious sex offences and serious violence. He has an interest in firearms law and appeals involving revocation of shotgun certificates and firearms licences.
He has been an accredited police station advisor since the mid 1990’s and has also managed and dealt with VHCC matters.
Gil has an interest in all country sports and follows Southampton football club.
